Performance Evidence
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:
operate a shearer and load coal on at least two occasions, including:confirming work requirements details, including:equipment and equipment defectscutting heightnext cutting sequenceachievement targets required survey datageological conditionshazards and potential hazardscoordination requirements/issuescompleting coordination with other personnel, plant and equipment involved, including:support personnel and chocksmaingatesarmoured face conveyorsbeam stage loaderspanel belts.During the above the candidate must:locate and apply relevant documentation, policies and procedures and confirm work activity is compliantimplement the requirements, procedures and techniques for conducting shearer operations, including:reading, interpreting, applying and communicating technical informationidentifying and minimising environmental issues, potential hazards and risks selecting and using relevant tools and equipmentcomplying with environmental requirements and constraintsidentifying work requirementsapplying fault finding techniquesapplying hand-eye coordinationinterpreting mine survey and geological datamaintaining equipment recordswork effectively with others to conduct shearer operations in a way that meets required outcomes, including:organising work activities to meet task requirementscommunicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructionscomplying with record requirements and proceduresdetermining coordination requirements throughout work activities.
